Research Indicates That E-Cigarettes Can Help People Quit Smoking
Cigarette smoking remains a serious health concern all over the world. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control estimated that cigarettes are the leading cause of preventable death in the country. They account for 1 out of every 5 deaths in the U.S. That is why it is so important to find tools that can help smokers quit.
One of the tools that may help smokers quit is an e-cigarette. Just how helpful are e-cigarettes when it comes to quitting? New research indicates that e-cigarettes may be especially helpful for those trying to quit smoking, according to Fox New Health. Researchers at the University college in London looked at the latest data on smoking and found that the more people that used e-cigarettes, the more they were able to successfully stop smoking.
Other research has indicated similar findings. Another analysis conducted by the Cochrane Review found that e-cigarettes can help people stop smoking with no serious side effects. A different study, published in Nicotine & Tobacco Research found that using e-cigarettes might lead to a significant drop in deaths from smoking-related diseases. In fact, in those smokers born after 1997, smoking e-cigarettes rather than regular ones, could reduce deaths from smoking by at least 21 percent.
So, exactly how do e-cigarettes help people quit? E-cigarettes are helpful when it comes to quitting smoking because they are similar to the experience of smoking. They generate a vapor that looks like smoke although it does not contain the harmful chemicals found in cigarette smoke. In addition, the weight of e-cigarettes feel like you are smoking an actual cigarette.
